About

MHOAUNTDH presents four bodies of work that seek to explore the modern day evolution of expressionism and the state of human communication in the current age of high technology. Combining sculptures, neon, video and sound installations, the exhibition brings forth examples that debate how technology is affecting our current society.

MHOAUNTDH address the humanistic gestures we use to communicate with each other thru language whether it be by mouth or by hand, and how transposing it into technology is affecting us.  As Socrates cautioned at the inception of writing, he feared that it would "create forgetfulness in the learners’ souls, because they will not use their memories; they will trust to the external written characters and not remember it themselves.” Now, as physical communication declines with the raise of new technologies, allowing the thumb and screen to replace both the mouth and the pen and paper, this exhibition brings new relevance to question the gains and losses in contemporary human interactions.
